At every milestone post I like to see which articles have resonated with readers. Today was post number 200 of these humble ramblings. Sometimes I post a blog that I think is brilliant and it is met with a deafening yawn and the sounds of cyber crickets. At other times I have written an article that I thought was average and that piece has resonated with readers. I am a new peruser of your blog so this was a great way to be filled in on past material. Checking your blog is now part of my daily routine. You never fail to make me laugh, make me cry, and make me think. I love the way you write! I especially loved this paragraph and wish I could have written it myself:

"A less than prominent evangelical has formed the Evangelical Initiative for Environmentally Independent Observation also known as E-I-E-I-O. They already have a catchy little theme song in mind. E-I-E-I-O founder Dave Burchett said, "I firmly believe that global warming may or may not be a problem so I am calling for a curb on the emission of all gases. Why just curb gases in greenhouses? Thank you." We now return you to the prominent evangelicals."

I say "Yes!" to soul searing honesty, "Yes!" to radically extending grace to each other, "Yes!" to taking ourselves less seriously, "Yes!" to taking Jesus more seriously, and "Yes!" to having a good laugh as frequently as possible!

I've just read Time to Post and Run again and I'm surprised you're surprised - the stuff is crucial. Some of the replies are heartbreaking and God must feel that a lot more than me. Here are my comments:

1. Do not put your trust in princes, pastors, Christians or anyone else.
2. Leaders should be more accountable than they are.
3. Vengeance is mine says the Lord - which doesn't only mean it's not ours but that God will execute perfect judgment.
4. Love must be the way - reading in the Message today:

Sir Dave,

Yes, I called you Sir. Anyone who writes with such love and compassion deserves the title. I have been studying King Solomon recently and I have one question..."Are you two related?" You wisdom and practical knowledge of how Christians should respond to negative press and snide remarks is how "We" should always be prepared to respond.

I am overwhelmed by your blogs, because this is the first I've heard of you. It is Sunday morning (9/24) and I open my office email to find that friend sent me one of your blogs about Rosie O'Donnell. All I can say is WOW!

Just want to say that I am in agreement with your view of Christianity. God is sitting on the thrown with His chest sticking out saying, "Yeah, that's my boy!"

Abundant blessing to you and your family. I have Joni in my heart of prayers, along with the rest of the family who feel the impact of the situation. God's got this too!
